Cosmosis 021: Drum & Bass and Jungle

This crate has been staring at me, waiting, growing patiently, like a huge black panther, waiting to pounce on me…But what that panther doesn’t know is that I created it, it follows my commands. And like a panther this genre can move smoothly and gracefully, and can also attack with supreme ferocity! Like much of the music of play, there are genres within genres, and so it takes a lot to explore. Expect a long set, with some lighter, ambient, smooth and soulful stuff, all the up to some techy, aggressive, sci-fi, neuro, and dark vibes and everything in between. Cosmosis 017: Post-Election (Mystery Night 3 – Nov 2024)

I was leaving the theme for this one up in the air because we didn’t know what the election would hold. Turns out we knew the results… So, the session became about three things: 1) creating peace, calm, and healing, 2) letting out some anger and frustration, and 3) trying to fill our reserves for future good works and love. Afro House, Latin House, Iberican, Brazilian, Indian, etc. — I know this genre can be problematic: overdone, cheesy, and is, at it’s worst, cultural appropriation… So, I hope to honor these musics, their unique and dynamic rhythmic structures, and sacred sounds through tasteful selections and rock-solid mixing, respectfully joining East and West.
